An 18-year-old Arnold man allegedly stole two guns from a home in the 1600 block of Greer Drive and traded at least one of the guns for marijuana and counterfeit money. The theft happened after midnight and before 6 a.m. June 8, Arnold Police reported.
The victim told police the 18-year-old allegedly had entered the home trough an unlocked basement window and took a gun and 20 pills of OxyContin. The victim also said another gun had been stolen the previous week, the report said.
Police found the 18-year-old at about 9:30 a.m. June 9 at home in the 2100 block of East Highview Drive in Arnold. The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, according to the report.
He reportedly admitted to stealing the guns from the home. He also allegedly told police he had traded one of the guns for marijuana and counterfeit money in Festus. Police were able to locate one of the stolen guns, a Kimber Ultra Fire .32-caliber handgun, at a home in the 3000 block of Stonebridge Place in Festus. However, the other stolen gun, a Kahr PM9 handgun, had not been recovered as of June 18, the report said.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the man against through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree burglary and receiving stolen property, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
