Tools valued at about $2,500 recently were stolen from a work vehicle parked in the 800 block of Vine Street in Festus, said Police Chief Tim Lewis of the Festus Police Department.

The theft reportedly occurred between Saturday evening (Oct. 24) and Sunday morning (Oct. 25), when the tools were stolen from a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, the chief said.

“The victim returned to the vehicle and found the tools stolen,” Lewis said. “The victim works at a local railroad company.”

The Traverse was locked, Lewis said.

“We think someone forced his way in,” he said.

The investigation is continuing, Lewis said Tuesday (Oct. 27).

He urges anyone with information to call the Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
