A home in the 100 block of Highview Drive in Imperial recently was burglarized, and a TV, checks and other items were stolen. The burglary happened between June 29 and July 11, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Someone unlawfully entered the home and stole a 32-inch, flat-screen TV; some checks; and some clothing and shoes. In all, the items were valued at $520, the report said.
It looked like the culprit rifled through things throughout the house. In addition, the thief apparently left a cigarette butt in an ashtray and a beer can on the floor, as well as a student ID that didn’t belong to the victim’s family members. Those items were seized as evidence, according to the report.
Neighbors reported seeing people going to and from the home during the period the burglary occurred but said that wasn’t unusual.
As of July 17, the stolen items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Cpl. Matthew Moore said. He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
