The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent theft of $5,100 in cash and other items from an unlocked vehicle while it was parked either at the victim’s home on Tracy Lane in Hillsboro or at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Hillsboro. The theft happened between 6 p.m. Oct. 13 and noon Oct. 15, the report said.

The victim said an envelope filled with $5,100 in $100 bills was stolen, along with some prescription medication and titles for a boat and outboard motors. In all, the items were valued at $5,200, according to the report.

He also said the items could have been stolen from his vehicle while it was parked outside his home in the 1000 block of Tracy Lane or while it was parked at the Courthouse while he was having lunch at a nearby restaurant, Detective Sgt. James Kausler said.

As of Oct. 27, the stolen cash and other items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Kausler said. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
