A thief stole $11,000 worth of rings from a display case on top of a counter at the Crystal City Kmart on Nov. 29.
The early afternoon heist was completed within one minute, Crystal City Police Capt. Mike Pruneau said.
Store employees were not aware of the theft until they noticed the empty case. A review of store video showed what had happened.
“He knew what he was doing,” Pruneau said. “He went right to the case and got it open within 10 seconds. It probably took him 30 seconds to take the rings, which were $200 or $250 each.”
The man is white, in his late 30s or early 40s, and was wearing a khaki jacket, a black hat with a white logo, sunglasses and blue jeans.
