The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent theft of $1,400 in cash from a home near the western border of the county.

The victim called the department May 15 saying an envelope containing 14 $100 bills was missing from her residence in the 14000 block of Southlake Drive near the border of Jefferson and Franklin counties.

She told investigators she was hospitalized May 7-15 and discovered the money missing when she returned home. She did not know how someone gained entry to her residence.

Investigators found no signs of forced entry.

As of May 22, the money had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.

He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
