Pevely city officials said a water boil order that’s been in effect for the past two days has been lifted for much of the city. However, the order is still in place until Friday morning, Oct. 7, for the following streets: Alta, El Camino, Westwood, Maple, Oak Avenue and Oak Trail West.
The city’s Water Department is flushing hydrants today and is aware water may be gushing from hydrants, Pevely officials reported on its Facebook page today.
The boil order initially went into effect the evening of Oct. 4 for homes, businesses and other customers east of I-55 to Commercial Boulevard (Hwy. 61-67).
The order is just for consumable water, city clerk Ashton Lowery said.
“The boil water order is a precaution,” she said. “It’s just for drinking that you need to boil water. You can use water without boiling to bathe, wash clothes.”
The boil order was issued after a contractor hit and damaged a water main at El Camino Drive and Oak Avenue, the city reported.
