‘The Gentlemen’ stars surprise pub-goers with surprise karaoke session

Staff in a Dorset pub were left stunned when "The Gentlemen" stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario walked in - and asked to do karaoke.

The pair visited the Kings Head in Poole earlier this month, reportedly to wind down after a day of filming for season three of the hit Netflix show.

Pub owner Kim Novell said the actors approached the bar during the pub's weekly trivia night on Oct. 8 and asked to use the karaoke machine.

Kim, 55, was more than happy to accommodate and watched on as Theo, 41, and Kaya, 34, did a rendition of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise."

Kaya then sang the Sugababes' "Too Lost in You" with one lucky member of the public as a group of 25 to 30 including the co-stars and management ordered pints and shots until 2 a.m. – three hours after the pub's usual closing time.

Kim said: "I couldn't actually believe it at first – my daughter wasn't on-site at the time, so I rang her and said 'can you check the security cameras'?

"She said 'oh my god, I'm on my way' and she was here in five minutes."

The group asked if they could use the karaoke machine and Novell, who has been the license holder since July, was happy to oblige.

She added: "I normally shut at 11 during the midweek, but because they were having such a good time, I stayed open until two.

"It's a once in a lifetime – I wasn't going to miss the opportunity. If you didn't know who they were, you would just think they were normal people.

"They weren't obnoxious or anything, they were just lovely, having a lovely time laughing, joking.

"I didn't really intrude too much, because you could tell they were just winding down – they didn't hide or anything, they sat with everybody.

"They were really good."

Netflix confirmed last month that The Gentlemen - about an aristocrat played by James who turns from duke to drug baron - has been renewed for a third season.
