Schnuck Markets Inc. announced that most of its stores will close an hour earlier beginning Monday (Oct. 4). The change is being made because of the challenges the company has had hiring and retaining employees, as well as because of changes in customers’ shopping patterns, Schnucks reported.

When the change takes effect, nearly all the company’s stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Previously, the stores had been open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

Jefferson County has four Schnucks stores. Two are in Arnold, at 1253 Jeffco Blvd. and at 3900 Vogel Road; another is at 20 Gravois Dillon Plaza Drive in High Ridge; and one is at 1181 W. Gannon Drive in Festus.

The grocer also has a store at 45 Gravois Bluffs Plaza Drive in Fenton and another one at 245 E. Fifth St. in Eureka.

The hours for the stores’ deli, meat and seafood counters also will change and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Five stores in St. Louis will remain open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., including ones at 5055 Arsenal St., 60 Hampton Village Plaza, 4171 Lindell Blvd., 1020 Loughborough Ave. and 3430 S. Grand Ave., as well as at stores in Florissant, 13987 New Halls Ferry Road; Maryland Heights, 2030 Dorsett Road; Ladue, 8867 Ladue Road; and Richmond Heights, 6600 Clayton Road.

The company also announced its stores will be closed on Dec. 26, giving employees an extra day off during the Christmas holiday to spend time with their families.
