The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will conduct a safety demonstration on Oct. 15 as part of its Hwy. 61-67 Corridor Study from Hwy. 231/Telegraph Road in Arnold to Hwy. Z in Pevely.
The safety demonstration will be in place approximately 12 hours, beginning at 6:30 a.m., according to a written statement from MoDOT issued today, Sept. 25.
The event will demonstrate proposed improvements to the roadway at key intersections and road segments along the study corridor. The key intersections are Windsor Harbor Drive at Hwy. 61-67 and Imperial Main Street at Hwy. 61-67.
The demonstration will use traffic control devices (including cones, signs and barricades) to temporarily implement reduced vehicle lanes and dedicated turn lanes to encourage slower speeds and increase driver awareness from Windsor Drive to Craig Drive. This will allow the agency to evaluate how the corridor functions with reduced speeds and ease the ability to make turns, the statement said.
Project staff will be on site periodically to observe traffic using the temporary changes to the roadway and will engage people to gather feedback about the demonstration design. Those engaged will be encouraged to take a traffic study on the demonstration design.
In addition, the study team will have a booth at the Windsor Owl football game from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Windsor stadium on campus, 949 Windsor Harbor Road, to further engage the community, the statement said.
