The Missouri Department of Transportation has scheduled an open house-style meeting from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Pevely City Hall, 401 Main St., to share information on proposed Hwy. 61-67 intersection improvements along a 10-mile stretch from near Barnhart to Festus.

The stretch begins at the intersection of Hwy. M and Hwy. 61-67 near Barnhart and ends at the intersection of American Legion Drive and Hwy. 61-67 in Festus.

In a written statement, MoDOT officials said the meeting will not have formal presentations. Instead, attendees may stop by during the meeting’s duration to view project details and speak with MoDOT officials and project consultants.

The project will be awarded this spring. There will be some lane closures for pavement resurfacing. When box culvert work takes place, one lane of Hwy. 61-67 will be open using a temporary traffic signal for both directions.

According to the statement, the $7.8 million project is to include resurfacing the existing Hwy. 61-67 pavement; guardrail upgrades along portions of the corridor; pedestrian facility upgrades at the southern end of the project; signal replacements at Hwy. M, Hwy. A, Beffa Street and American Legion Drive; and box culverts replacements at Brauhn Creek, the Branch of Brauhn Creek and Gibson Creek.

Access to the open house for those with disabilities is available. Those who require special services at the public meeting must contact Rachel V. Sudduth, MoDOT senior communications specialist, by Monday, Sept. 15, to make arrangements. Contact Sudduth at 314-343-7731.
