The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced the loop ramp from southbound I-55 to northbound Hwy. 67 south of Festus will close overnight tonight, June 19.
The closure originally was scheduled for June 17, but was postponed.
The ramp is set for closure from 8 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Thursday, June 20, as crews place a temporary concrete barrier in the auxiliary lane on northbound Hwy. 67 under the I-55 bridges. The temporary concrete barrier will allow space for excavation and construction of a retaining wall to support the new I-55 bridge over Hwy. 67, MoDOT officials said.
The temporary concrete barrier in the auxiliary lane under I-55 will reduce the length available to merge onto northbound Hwy. 67 from the southbound I-55 loop ramp, they said. The temporary barrier will be in place through July.
During the closure, MoDOT officials encourage motorists seeking to travel to Hwy. 67 to exit southbound I-55 at Hwy. A in Festus and drive eastbound on Hwy. A to Hwy. 67.
MoDOT has conducted a number of similar closures from southbound I-55 to Hwy. 67 both northbound and southbound in recent weeks.
The ramp closures are part of the project to widen I-55 from Hwy. Z in Pevely to Hwy. 67 south of Festus. All scheduled work is weather-permitting, MoDOT officials said.
