Parents who shop the first weekend of August will save some money on school supplies and clothing.

The 2024 Missouri Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 4.

During the holiday, the state and its municipalities will not collect sales tax on school-related purchases.

This is the second year municipalities are not allowed to opt out of the sales tax holiday, according to the Missouri Department of Revenue

Sales tax will not be charged on any article of clothing that costs $100 or less; school supplies up to $50 per purchase; computer software that costs $350 or less; personal computers that cost up to $1,500; computer software that costs up to $350; and graphing calculators that cost up to $150.
