About 1,000 people turned out Dec. 10 to watch the 17th annual House Springs Lions Club Christmas Parade, parade chair Kim Fanter said.
“I think it was wonderful,” she said. “The community just absolutely loves it, and they kind of expect it.”
The parade started at Faith Community Church parking lot and ended at the intersection of Hwy. MM and Hillsboro-House Springs Road.
Fanter said there was a bit of misting rain that evening, which might have kept some people from attending, but she was happy with the turnout.
Fanter said the parade included 34 entries, and one of her favorites was a Model T being hauled on a trailer with Santa riding inside the car.
“It was decorated like if it was parked on the street, and there was an elf driving,” she said.
Fanter said Fredbird, the Cardinals mascot, also was at the parade and was a popular attraction.
“Fredbird was absolutely crazy,” she said.
The overall theme of the parade was “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
“There were lots of angel wings,” Fanter said.
She said she was grateful to all the Lions Club members and community volunteers who helped with the parade.
“Without their help every single year, we would not be able to do what we are doing,” she said.
