Leader Publications encourages Jefferson County veterans from all branches of the military to submit a photo for the upcoming Salute to Veterans Tribute special section.
The Leader plans to honor county veterans by including those submissions in the special section in the Nov. 11 issue of the paper.
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.
Veterans themselves, as well as their family members and friends, are invited to share their photos, along with a little description of the veteran and his or her service.
Photos may be about any county veteran, living or deceased, and from any era, wartime or peacetime.
Veterans who were featured in former years may be included, but please tell different stories and provide different photographs than those submitted before.
The paper will publish as many photos and stories as space allows, with priority given to first-time submitters. The remaining photos and stories may appear on the paper’s website.
Those who send photos and stories must include their name and phone number for the submissions to be eligible for publication.
■ Photos may be submitted in either print or digital form. “Then” and “now” photos are especially welcome.
■ Identify the people in the photograph and give the date when it was taken.
■ Include the service person’s hometown and age.
■ Give the military branch and years served, plus any details about foreign or domestic posts, specialties or training.
■ Add details, like funny stories, sad stories, romantic stories, heroic stories.
Mail photos to Leader Veterans Tribute, P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; bring to the Leader office at 503 N. Second St. in Festus; or email to
news@leaderpublications.biz. Physical photos that include a self-addressed, stamped envelope will be mailed back; others will be held for pickup.
