Herculaneum city officials hope to lift the city’s boil water order by Tuesday, Oct. 14. The order was placed Thursday, Oct. 9, following a water main break at the intersection of McNutt Street and McNutt School Road.
The break occurred about 2:30 p.m. Thursday and was repaired about 1 a.m. this morning, Oct. 10. The first round of safety testing for the city’s water began after the repair.
The city must take three samples from different parts of the water supply to get tested at a lab to make sure the water’s safe to drink before the boil order can be lifted.
“(Once they) give us the results, if it's a yes, we're good to go,” Herculaneum City Administrator Logan Jaskiewicz said today. “We have to wait another three days and get another test done, so we're hoping by (Oct. 14) we'll have a boil order lifted.”
Local businesses have donated bottled water for residents to use during the boil order. The water is available at the Herculaneum Fire Department.
“We’re grateful to Lowe’s and Spectrum for donating bottled water, and to Buchheit for keeping their shelves stocked and delivering several pallets directly to the Herculaneum Fire Department, the city said in a message posted on the city of Herculaneum’s Facebook page
