It looks like a Gordmans store is coming to Arnold next year.
Gordmans has signed a lease to open a store in the Arnold Crossroads Center next to the Northern Tool and Equipment store that opened in March, said developer Larry Jones of Jones Realty in St. Albans.
Construction is slated to start early next year and the store is expected to open in July or August 2014, Jones said.
“We’re very excited about Gordmans (opening in the complex),” Jones said.
It will be the first Gordmans in Jefferson County.
Right now the closest Gordmans is in Fenton.
Arnold Mayor Ron Counts said he, too, is excited about a Gordmans store opening in the Arnold Crossroads Center.
In addition, Jones said work is underway inside a space in the complex north of the Northern Tool store, where a Remax realty office is scheduled to open in 30 to 60 days.
Also, a Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance office opened May 30 on the north side of the complex near the Hot Shots restaurant and bar.
The Gordmans store will take up about 53,000 square feet in the space where a Kmart store used to operate.
That will leave about 15,000 square feet for lease, Jones said.
“We have interested parties (for that remaining space),” he said.
Gordmans is headquartered in Omaha, Neb., and has about 90 stores in 19 states, according to the company’s website.
