Eureka is going to get its own free-standing community newspaper Feb. 9 with the launch of the Eureka Leader.
The newspaper will be mailed free every other Thursday to all households in the Eureka (63025) ZIP code.
“After printing four pages of Eureka news and advertising in our West Side Leader for the last five months, we are pleased to expand our commitment to the Eureka community,” said Pam LaPlant, publisher of Festus-based Leader Publications, which also publishes the Arnold-Imperial Leader and the Jefferson County Leader.
“We believe in the Eureka market and have staffed up to provide the community with what we are confident will be an excellent local newspaper.”
Tony Krausz will be the primary news reporter for the area. Mark Grebe and Rita Hutson will work with local businesses as the Leader’s advertising account representatives.
The Eureka Leader will be a full-service newspaper. In addition to covering news about Eureka city, Rockwood School District, crime, accidents and fires, the paper will provide news about Eureka high school sports, births, weddings, obituaries, churches, and community and club activities.
