5K run

A fundraising Colordash 5K fun run and walk will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Seckman High School athletic stadium, 2800 Seckman Road, Imperial, to benefit the school’s archery team.

The event is for people of all ages and abilities, so the 5K will not be timed.

The cost to enter varies. The fee is $40 for an individual or $35 if the person is a member of a team entered in the event. Teams must include at least four people.

Family rates also are offered. They are $28.33 a person for a family of three, $25 each for a family of four, $23 each for a family of five and $21.66 each for a family of six or more.

Children 5 and younger may participate for free.

Half of the entry fees will benefit the team.

Participants will get a white T-shirt, which will end up looking tie dyed by the end of the event since a different color will be tossed on people at each kilometer. The dye is non-toxic, food-grade cornstarch and coloring. Members of the Seckman High archery team will throw the color on participants and will try to avoid people’s faces, said Joe Stenger, one of the coaches. The other coach is John Glore.

Packets for the 5K may be picked up beginning at 7 a.m. the day of the event.

To enter the event, go to www.CD5K.com and then go to the Aug. 29 races and select the Seckman one.
