Festus Public Library staff soon will be able to advertise upcoming events at the facility with an electronic sign that’s being installed next to the street, library director Kathy Condon-Boettcher said today (April 29).
“They started working on it this week,” she said. “They’ve done some digging and still need to do electrical work.”
Condon-Boettcher said she doesn’t know exactly when the sign will be ready for use.
A $20,884.50 grant from the Jefferson Memorial Community Foundation will fund the lion’s share of the $30,000 project, she said.
The sign – from Warren Sign of Arnold – cost $28,000, with about $2,000 in additional costs for installation and permits, Condon-Boettcher.
The Festus Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Festus Public Library group are covering costs not paid by the grant.
