Festus Police patch 2019

The Festus Police Department will hold a bicycle claim day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the station, 100 Park Ave.

The department has more than 50 bikes that were turned into the department over the past six years and is looking for the owners, Chief Tim Lewis said.

Some type of proof of ownership is required to claim and take home a bicycle, he said.

“It would be nice if they had a picture of the bike,” Lewis said. “It could be a receipt with a serial number, any kind of proof.”

He said the collection of found bikes includes a wide variety of brands.

“There are all kinds of bikes, some good and some bad,” Lewis said.

He said the last time his department held a found bicycle claim was 2014.
