Festus City Council members appear ready to move their two regular meetings per month from the second and fourth Wednesdays to the second and fourth Mondays.
The proposal also would change the start of the meetings to 6 p.m., an hour earlier than the meetings typically are held.
The council members are scheduled to vote on the proposed changes at their next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday (July 8). If the motion is approved, the new schedule will go into effect with the council’s following regular meeting, which would be 6 p.m. Monday (July 27), City Administrator Greg Camp said.
He said the idea cropped up during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, when meetings were occasionally rescheduled.
“We did have some different dates and times during our response to the pandemic,” Camp said. “About a month ago one of our council members asked if there was any reason we couldn’t move the council meetings. I think some of them have conflicts on Wednesdays.”
