What it is: Proposition F (Future) is a $3.3 million bond issue.

Vote needed to pass: Four-sevenths (57.14 percent) majority.

What it will cost: No tax increase, but the current payments on bond issues would be extended from 2030 to 2040.

What it’s about: Revenue from the bond issue would provide funding to replace aging vehicles and equipment and to repair and renovate House 1, Chief Steve Sagehorn said.

He said the district needs the funding to replace trucks and other equipment, like radios and other communications equipment.

Sagehorn said House 1, at 910 W. Osage St., in Pacific, needs to be updated as well.

“Recently we hired two female firefighters, and we want to build separate bunkrooms there. We already have separate bathrooms, but we want to make those more appropriate for them,” he said. “Also, the HVAC system is 20-plus years, and the windows need to be improved.”

“We want to keep the employees safe, and the bond issue will help us maintain safety for the employees and the citizens and cut maintenance costs. We’re spending $94,000, $95,000 on maintenance costs on firetrucks alone.”

Sagehorn said the district’s last bond issue was passed in 2014 and was used to replace the training towers and to buy self-contained breathing apparatus, thermal imagery cameras and turn-out gear.

The district serves 78 square miles in Jefferson, Franklin and St. Louis counties, including Pacific, Robertsville and Catawissa.
