Time is running out for candidates to file to run for open seats in the April 5 general election.
The filing period, which opened Dec. 7, ends Tuesday, Dec. 28.
The April election will be held to fill open seats on governing bodies for cities, school districts, fire and ambulance districts, water and sewer districts and special road districts.
The only countywide entity with seats up for election is the Jefferson County 911 Dispatch Board of Directors, which will have four seats on the ballot.
Jefferson College and the Jefferson County Health Department will have no candidate election in 2022.
Not all fire districts have open seats on the ballot each year, and in 2022 there will be no elections for the De Soto Rural, Eureka, High Ridge, Hillsboro, Mapaville, Pacific and Saline Valley fire protection districts.
Typically, candidates file for open seats during regular business hours at offices for the various government entities, although some candidates are required to file at the Jefferson County Administration Center in Hillsboro. Those who are interested in filing are advised to check for possible holiday closures.
The last day for an entity to place measures on the ballot is Jan. 25. The last day to register to vote in the election is March 9.
