(The Center Square) - A federal judge in Alaska on Sunday dismissed a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Justice Department seeking to delay certification of Alaska's U.S. Senate race if an alleged spoiler candidate remains on the ballot.
• Two Columbia men are in custody after an early Saturday morning shooting downtown. Police arrested Demarquen Allen, 28, and Iseah Jackson, 23, after officers heard gunfire around 2:30 a.m. near Eighth and Walnut Streets. One person was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both suspects face multiple assault and armed criminal action charges.

(The Center Square) — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit on Monday dismissed the U.S. Department of Justice’s request to force California election officials to segregate ballots cast by 20,000 voters suspected of being noncitizens.
The amendment is an effort to limit legislators' ability to modify measures passed by voters.
Missouri voters on Nov. 3 will be asked to consider Amendment 6, a ballot measure that would change the initiative and referendum petition processes.
