Marilyn Hastings 2019 De Soto Senior Expo

Marilyn Hastings wins bingo during the 2019 De Soto Senior Expo.

There’ll be doughnuts and dancing, learning and laughter and a morning of fun, now that the De Soto Senior Expo is back after a two-year absence.

Sponsored by Leader Publications, the event is slated for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 20, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 13225 Hwy. E, in

De Soto. Admission is free. Seniors from throughout Jefferson County are invited.

When the doors open at 8 a.m., free coffee and doughnuts will be available, courtesy of Leader Publications.

Vendors will be on hand throughout the morning with a wide variety of goods and services of interest to seniors. Many will offer giveaways and drawings for free items.

Smart attendees will bring pre-printed address labels to save time and effort when entering drawings, filling out forms or requesting information.

Expogoers may register at the Leader booth for a chance to win the grand prize – a trip to historic Perryville, including a guided tour of Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial, a visit to the American Tractor Museum and a tour of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. The prize also includes a meal for four at Mary Jane Burgers and Brew in Perryville. A name will be drawn from the entrants to win the grand prize, and entrants must be present to win.

There is a limit of one entry per person. Only those 50 or older are eligible to win, but the winner may take three guests of any age.

Joe Williams from the Valle Ambulance District will be on hand to perform blood pressure and blood glucose checks.

Health care professionals from other agencies also will offer free screenings.
