A presumed water main break at the Jefferson College main campus in Hillsboro led to the cancellation of classes there today, Jan. 30, officials said.

As of 3 p.m., it was not known if classes would resume Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Classes at the college’s Arnold and Imperial campuses have not been affected.

“The Hillsboro campus buildings are without water,” said Daryl Gehbauer, Jefferson College vice president of finance and administration. “Tomorrow is still undetermined. We are still trying to locate the source of the leak.”

He said it may not be possible to decide about whether classes are held on the Hillsboro campus on Tuesday until that morning.

Gehbauer said a company hired to repair the problem has brought in lighting equipment so crews can work in darkness.

Jefferson College students received texts at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, informing them about the water main break and the cancellation of today’s classes at the Hillsboro campus.
