Boil order

A boil water order issued for an area of Pevely was lifted this morning (Oct. 30).

Residents on Joachim Street, Elm Street, Fifth Street, Fourth Street, Walnut Street, Old State Road South, as well as those south of Fifth Street may now drink water from the tap and use it for cooking or brushing their teeth.

The boil water order was issued Oct. 26 after a water line was broken, City Administrator Todd Melkus said.

“A lot of the pipes are just old. Situations are just going to occur,” he said.

MB Construction is replacing the city’s water lines in the middle of town, Melkus said The contractor expects to be finished replacing the water lines around the first of December. The exact date is dependent on weather and other variables that can occur, Melkus said.
