The intersection at North Mill and North Fifth streets in Festus closed this morning, Sept. 25, and is expected to remain closed until sometime Friday, Sept. 29, so Burlington Northern Santa Fe may complete work on its railroad tracks in the area, authorities reported.
The city of Festus reported the closure on its Facebook page just after 9 a.m. today, saying BNSF had only alerted the city to the closure shortly before that. The Facebook post said BNSF is closing the intersection “to redo the crossing.”
