The city of Arnold will hold a 9-11 ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Arnold Recreation Center, 1695 Missouri State Road.
It is open to the public and will be held at the 9-11 memorial in front of the rec center, and afterwards attendees will be treated to a breakfast.
An honor guard will be there to retire a flag that flies at the rec center and replaced with a new one. Then, the old flag will be presented to a group attending the event, Arnold Parks and Recreation director Susie Boone said.
She said organizers had not yet determined which group would receive the old flag.
The World Bird Sanctuary will bring Patriot, the eagle, to the event.
Arnold Mayor Ron Counts is expected to speak, and poems will be read, Boone said.
Rock Community Fire Protection District will hold a ceremony and “ringing of the bell” to memorialize fallen firefighters, she added.
In addition, Jack Poitras of Barnhart will play taps.
