The Arnold Jaycees Pavilion at the Farmers Market

A new pavilion has been completed at the Arnold Farmers Market and will be named after the Arnold Jaycees, which donated $15,000 toward the project.

A grand opening will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday (June 23) to mark completion of the new Arnold Jaycees Pavilion at the Arnold Farmers Market, which is at the entrance to Arnold City Park on Bradley Beach Road.

The 30-by-40-foot pavilion is named after the Arnold Jaycees because the organization donated $15,000 to the city to help pay for the construction, said Teresa Kohut, an Arnold recreation supervisor and the Farmers Market master.

“The city of Arnold would like to thank the Jaycees for the pavilion, which was funded in a large way by the Arnold Jaycees,” she said.

Arnold Mayor Ron Counts and Arnold parks deputy director Dave Crutchley will speak at the grand opening. There will be “special music” provided by Stuart Johnson, a guitarist and vocalist, and free snow cones, as well as the many vendors who regularly sell wares at the market.

The new pavilion will give the Farmers Market a focal point, provide a place for bands and family activities and provide more space for vendors, Kohut said.

“The Arnold Farmers Market would like to thank the city of Arnold Parks and Recreation staff, as well as the staff from the Public Works Department for their assistance with the building of the pavilion,” she said.

Kohut also said she was grateful to Counts and his wife, Gaye Counts, as well as the City Council, staff and City Administrator Bryan Richison for supporting the Farmers Market and its ongoing expansion.
