Justin Owensby, 22, of Arnold was shot and killed March 22 after he allegedly tried to rob the Pawn King shop, 520 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold, Lt. Tom Leassner reported.
Leassner said Owensby entered the store about 3:45 p.m. and allegedly pointed a handgun at the store owner, a 46-year-old man who shot the alleged robber.
Owensby was shot several times and pronounced dead at the scene, Leassner said.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and tried to revive Owensby, but to no avail, Leassner said.
He did not release the name of the store owner and said the owner lists his address as the Arnold pawn shop.
No charges will be sought against the store owner, Leassner added.
He said there were four people in the store when Owensby allegedly came in, pointed the gun and announced a robbery. In addition to the owner, at least one store employee and at least one customer was there. He said some people were also outside the store when the shooting occurred.
Leassner said Owensby did not fire his gun.
