A 100-year-old Festus man was injured Tuesday morning (June 25) in a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. A west of Harrison Lake Road west of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 9:45 a.m., Obie D. Young was driving a 2017 Ford Escape SUV west on Hwy. A, and the SUV ran off the right side of the highway, crossed Harrison Lake Road and then went down an embankment, coming to rest facing northwest, the report said.

Young was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City and transferred to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, which he remained in satisfactory condition today (June 27).

He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The SUV was extensively damaged, the report said.
