A Festus teen died Monday evening (Feb. 8) following a two-car collision on Hwy. A west of Pioneer Road and east of Hillsboro during snowy and icy conditions, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

Jimi D. Williams, 19, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at 8:02 p.m. at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City after being transported to the hospital by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance, the report said.

According to the patrol, he was a passenger in a 2000 Buick LeSabre driven by Jimi L. Williams, 41, of Festus, who was headed east on the highway at about 7:15 p.m., lost control “on the ice- and snow-covered roadway” and began to cross the center line and skid, and the front of a westbound 2020 Honda Civic struck the passenger side of the LeSabre. After the collision, both vehicles ran off the right side of the road.

Jimi D. Williams was a passenger in the LeSabre.

Scott G. Hiller, 50, of Festus was driving the Civic.

Both he and Jimi L. Williams were seriously injured in the crash, the report said.

Jimi L. Williams was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson and then was transferred to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in good condition this afternoon (Feb. 9), a hospital spokesman said.

Hiller was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South and was listed in satisfactory condition today, the spokesman said.

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The LeSabre was totaled and the Civic was extensively damaged, the report said.
