Edward Merle Wright, 77, of Wildwood died in a crash on Hwy. 100 in Villa Ridge early this morning, Sept. 2, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:05 a.m., Wright was driving an eastbound 2020 Dodge Ram 3500 near Whispering Hope Drive in Franklin County when he traveled off the road, causing the pickup to strike a guardrail. The pickup overturned, ejecting Wright, who was not wearing a seat belt, the report said.
Wright was pronounced dead at the scene by Meramec Ambulance personnel and was taken to the St. Louis County morgue, the report said.
The pickup was extensively damaged, the report said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol does not release the names of those involved in vehicle accidents. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the driver.
