traffic accident 2

Two women from out of state were seriously hurt this morning (June 8) in a two-vehicle wreck on I-55 north of Hwy. M between Barnhart and Imperial, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 3:49 a.m., after a 2017 Freightliner big rig was involved in a wreck on southbound I-55 and was overturned and blocking lanes 3 and 4, a southbound 1997 Sable driven by Anita L. Harber, 67, of Clinton, Ky., struck the undercarriage of the semi, the report said.

John J. Page, 53, of St. Louis was driving the big rig. No injuries were reported for him.

However, Harber and a passenger in the Sable – Darlene L. Dobbs, 59, of Sabetha, Kan. – were seriously injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The Sable was totaled, and the Freightliner was extensively damaged, the report said.
