Two Pevely teenagers were injured Monday afternoon (May 6) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. Z west of Country Ridge Lane north of Mapaville, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 12:45 p.m., Lucas D. Gaertner, 19, of Pevely was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger east on Hwy. Z and failed to observed a car slowing ahead to turn left, and the front of the pickup struck the rear of an eastbound 2015 Toyota Corolla, the report said.

Victoria A. Dotson, 19, of Hillsboro was driving the Corolla. No injuries were reported for her.

However, Gaertner was moderately hurt, and a passenger in the pickup – Christian A. Gaertner, 15, of Pevely – had minor injuries. They both were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, the report said.

Lucas Gaertner was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

However, the hospital had no information about Christian Gaertner, the spokesman said.

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The pickup was moderately damaged, and the car had minor damage, the report said.
