A Fenton man and a St. Louis man were injured Monday evening (Dec. 28) in a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 30 and Little Brennan Road in High Ridge, and the St. Louis man was arrested, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At about 7:40 p.m., the 28-year-old St. Louis man was driving a southbound 2007 Ford Edge SUV and failed to stop for a red light while attempting to turn left, and the front of an eastbound 2001 Ford F-150 pickup struck the right side of the SUV, the report said.
Stephen D. Heatherly, 27, Fenton was driving the pickup, according to the report.
The St. Louis man was moderately injured, and Heatherly was seriously injured, and both drivers were transported by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.
The St. Louis man was treated and released, and Heatherly was listed in good condition Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 29), a hospital spokesman said.
The St. Louis man was not wearing a seat belt, and Heatherly was wearing one, the patrol reported.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the St. Louis man at 8:40 p.m. at the hospital for driving while intoxicated with serious physical injury and leaving the scene of an accident, the report said.
The St. Louis man’s name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon (Dec. 30), none had been filed.
