Two young Hillsboro women were seriously hurt in a three-vehicle accident that happened at about 4:40 p.m. Monday (April 11) on Hwy. 110 east of Zufall Lane in the De Soto area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
Tiffany M. Ray, 24, of Hillsboro was driving a 1993 Ford Ranger east on Hwy. 110 and while attempting to pass an eastbound 2013 Chrysler 200, veered to the right to avoid oncoming traffic and struck the car she was trying to pass, the report said.
After the collision, the pickup ran off the north side of the road and overturned, and a westbound car, a 2008 Acura TL, was struck by debris from the wreck, according to the report.
Ray and a passenger in the pickup – Ashley M. Bond, 20, of Hillsboro – were both seriously hurt and taken by Valle Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, the report said.
Ray was treated and released, and Bond was listed in satisfactory condition this morning (April 12), a hospital spokesman said.
Dazee R. Dalton, 18, of Belgrade was driving the Chrysler, and John P. Birkmann, 34, of St. Charles was driving the Acura. No injuries were reported for them.
Ray was not wearing a seat belt, but Bond and the other two drivers were wearing them, the patrol reported.
The pickup was totaled, and the two cars sustained minor damage, the report said.
