Two teenage boys, one from Imperial and the other from Barnhart, were injured Monday morning (Jan. 3) in a one-car accident on Old Lemay Ferry Road near Frisco Hill Road in Imperial, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 8:24 a.m., an Imperial 17-year-old boy was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier south on Old Lemay Ferry and while trying to pass in a no-passing zone, he drove into the path of a northbound vehicle and then overcorrected to avoid a collision before the car ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree, the report said.

He was moderately injured, and a Barnhart 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car had minor injuries, and both were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.

Both boys were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The car was totaled, the report said.

The highway patrol did not release the teens’ names because they are juveniles.
