traffic accident 4 patrol patch

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle traffic accident Friday afternoon (Aug. 14) on Hwy. 30 at Old Sugar Creek Road in the Fenton area of Jefferson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Emileigh Messenger, 18, of Fenton was driving a 2010 Ford Escape north on Old Sugar Creek Road at 1:48 p.m. when she stopped for a red light at Hwy. 30. When the light turned green, she proceeded through the intersection but her vehicle was hit on the side by a 2008 Buick Enclave driven by Kristin Boucher, 35, of Pevely. Boucher reportedly failed to stop for a red light as she was driving east on Hwy. 30, the report said. The impact of the collision caused the Buick into the westbound lanes of Hwy. 30, where it struck the front of a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Joe Sullivan, 36, of Fenton, who was stopped in the left-turn lane onto New Sugar Creek Road.

Messenger sustained serious injuries and Boucher and a passenger in the Chrysler, Kelly Sullivan, 39, of Fenton both had moderate injuries. All three were taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County by North Jefferson Ambulance, the report said.

Updates on their conditions were not available.

The report made no mention of an injury to Joe Sullivan.

Boucher was not wearing a seat belt, the report said, but Messenger and both of the Sullivans were. The Ford and Buick were totaled while the Chrysler had moderate damage.
