Fatal accident patrol patch

A teenage girl from Cedar Hill was killed and four other teenagers were seriously injured in a single-car traffic accident early this morning (Sept. 26) on Carol Park Road in House Springs.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 17-year-old girl from Cedar Hill was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion north on Carol Park Road north of Woodland Drive at 1:46 a.m. when she drove partially off the right side of the road and the Ford began to slide. The front of the Ford hit a tree and a utility pole before coming to rest, partially on the road.

One of the four passengers, a 17-year-old girl from Cedar Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2 a.m.

The driver and three other passengers all sustained serious injuries. The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur by Eureka Ambulance, and Ross Carmickle, 18, of Fenton, was taken to the same hospital by Survival Flight helicopter.

Two other passengers, Jenna Viehland, 18, of High Ridge, and a 17-year-old boy from Fenton, both were taken by Fenton Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

Updates on their conditions were not available.

The driver of the Ford was wearing a seat belt but none of the passengers were, the report said.

The vehicle was totaled, according to the report.

The Highway Patrol does not release the names of juveniles involved in traffic accidents.
