A St. Louis County man was killed and a man from Dittmer was injured in a one-vehicle traffic accident May 2 on Hwy. 30 in Cedar Hill, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 2:36 p.m., Jason Stange, 42, of Manchester was driving a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse east on Hwy. 30 east of Ficken Road and while trying to negotiate a left turn in the road, lost control of the Mitsubishi and it went off the right side of the road and struck a tree and then went down an embankment before it overturned. Stange was partially thrown from the SUV and a passenger, Kristofer Brussman, 28, of Dittmer, was thrown from the vehicle, the report said.

Personnel from the Big River Ambulance District pronounced Stange dead at the scene at 2:45 p.m., the report said.

Brussman sustained moderate injuries and was taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

An update on his condition was not available.

Both men were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The SUV was totaled.
