Six people, including five from Jefferson County, were hurt Sunday evening (Oct. 15) in a three-vehicle accident on I-64 east of Clarkson Road in St. Louis County. In addition, one of the drivers, a 27-year-old St. Charles woman, was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on drugs, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

At 6:28 p.m., the St. Charles woman was driving a 2003 Buick Le Sabre east on I-64, veered left, and the left side of the car struck the right side of an eastbound 2013 Nissan Rogue, the report said.

The impact of that collision caused the Rogue to travel left, and the left side of it struck the right side of an eastbound 2007 Cadillac Escalade, according to the report.

Timothy M. Thompson, 52, of Festus was driving the Rogue, and Craig A. Walters, 41, of Arnold was driving the Escalade.

The Wentzville woman sustained minor injuries, Thompson was moderately hurt and no injuries were reported for Walters. However, four passengers in the Escalade sustained minor injuries – Ann M. Fenderson, 9; Charles Hegger, 15; Daniel Walters, 15; and Kiwamu Walters, 14, all of Arnold.

All six hurt in the accident were taken by ambulance to area hospitals – Fenderson to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County and the rest to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said.

However, a St. Anthony’s spokesman said St. Anthony’s had no information about Fenderson.

No information about the others' conditions was available today (Oct. 19).

All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The Rogue was extensively damaged, and the other two vehicles were moderately damaged, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the St. Charles woman at Mercy Hospital St. Louis and released her pending application for warrants.
