For the second time in less than two weeks, vehicles were stolen from the same Arnold neighborhood, Arnold Police reported.
On the morning of April 15, three vehicles were stolen from outside homes on Hickory Ridge Trail and Old Hickory Court, and on April 6, three other vehicles were stolen from outside homes on Hickory Ridge Trail and Hickory Manor, police reported.
All six stolen vehicles were left unlocked with the keys inside, the reports said.
“We are relatively sure it is the same crew (stealing the vehicles),” Capt. Rich Shular said. “They found a honey hole. As long as they keep finding cars that are unlocked with keys in them, they are going to keep coming back”
The April 15 thefts occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., when a silver 2016 Chevrolet Impala and a white 2014 Buick Verano were stolen from outside a home in the 1100 block of Hickory Ridge Trail. Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s home showed the two cars were stolen at about 4:30 a.m., the report said.
The Impala and Verano belong to a 79-year-old Arnold man. The Impala, which was valued at about $10,000, was recovered in St. Louis the same day it was taken and returned to the owner, according to a report.
Also on April 15, a blue 2017 Nissan Altima was stolen from outside a home in the 1900 block of Old Hickory Court. The victim, a 71-year-old Arnold woman, told police she left the car unlocked with the keys inside it, according to the report.
As of Wednesday (April 22), the Buick, which was valued at $8,000, and the Nissan, valued at $20,000, had not been recovered. Police also had not identified suspects in the thefts, Shular said.
On April 6, a 2019 Cadillac XT5 and 2017 Ford Fusion were stolen from outside a home in the 1100 block of Hickory Ridge Trial, and a 2008 Volkswagen Atlas was stolen from outside a home in the 500 block of Hickory Manor. The Cadillac was recovered the same day it was stolen and returned to its owner. However the Ford and Volkswagen had not been recovered as of Wednesday, Shular said.
