Six local residents were injured and transported to area hospitals after two SUVs collided at about 12:35 p.m. Monday (Dec. 31) on Hwy. 30 at La Kenny Lane in unincorporated Fenton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

Andrea Hairston, 70, and John W. Hairston, 78, both of Fenton, were moderately injured and taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

As of Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 2), John Hairston was in satisfactory condition, and Andrea Hairston was in good condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Gary L. Lewis, 44, Catherine Lewis, 11, Jonah Lewis, 13, and Addison L. Shoemaker, 9, all of High Ridge, were transported to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton.

Gary Lewis, who was transported by North Jefferson County Ambulance, and Jonah Lewis, who was transported by Mehlville Ambulance, were both moderately injured. Catherine Lewis, who was transported by Mehlville Ambulance, and Shoemaker, who was transported by North Jefferson County Ambulance, both sustained minor injuries, according to the report.

All four were treated and released a St. Clare hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.

According to the patrol, Andrea Hairston was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan west on Hwy. 30 when she allegedly crossed over onto La Kenny Lane and failed to yield for the 2006 Buick Rendezvous, which was driven by Gary Lewis. The front of the Rendezvous struck the front of the Tiguan, and both SUVs were totaled, the report said.

All six people injured in the accident were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
