Three Jefferson County men, including two pedestrians, were injured Friday night, Aug. 30, in a traffic accident in the 7000 block of Hwy. 61-67 in Barnhart, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 8:54 p.m., Trenton D. Shores, 30, of Crystal City was driving a northbound 2013 GMC Acadia and while backing out of a parking lot at a business, he struck a pole and then accelerated forward and struck two pedestrians. Then, the vehicle struck several more poles in the parking lot, the report said.

Shores was moderately injured, and one of the pedestrians – Zackery W. Trent, 29, of Festus – was seriously injured, and the other pedestrian, Andrew R. Parker, 48, of Imperial, sustained minor injuries, according to the report.

Shores and Trent were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County, and Parker was treated and released at the scene, the report said.

It’s unknown if Shores was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The SUV was extensively damaged, the report said.
