Fatal accident patrol patch

A Pevely man was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident early Saturday evening (May 21) on Hwy. 67 in north St. Francois County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that David Macke, 38, of Pevely was driving a 1994 GMC Sierra north on Hwy. 67 at 6:12 p.m. and was turning left onto Hwy. JJ. As he crossed the southbound lanes, he drove into the path of a southbound 2002 Harley Davidson XL 1200 motorcycle ridden by Kory Terlaga, 59, of Piedmont. The front of the motorcycle ran into the right rear of the GMC, throwing Terlaga.

Terlaga was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:23 p.m. by emergency medical personnel from the St. Francois County Ambulance District, the report said. Macke was not hurt in the accident.

Terlaga was wearing a safety helmet and Macke a seat belt at the time of the accident, the report said. The motorcycle was totaled while the GMC sustained moderate damage.
