This Pevely Police vehicle was totaled in a crash today, and the officer driving it was injured.

A Pevely Police officer was injured this morning (Nov. 9) in a two-vehicle accident on Commercial Boulevard (Hwy. 61-67) south of Main Street in Pevely, authorities reported.

At about 8:20 a.m., Pevely Police Officer Connor M. Lewis, 23, of St. Louis was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe police vehicle and while trying to turn from a private driveway onto Commercial Boulevard, the SUV was struck by a northbound 1980 Ford L9000 heavy-duty truck driven by Robert D. Christian, 46, of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

No injuries were reported for Christian.

Lewis had minor injuries and was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County, where he was listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.

According to the Pevely Police Facebook page, the officer sustained four broken ribs and minor bleeding around his lung and was being held overnight at the hospital for observation.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts during the crash, the patrol reported.

The Tahoe was totaled and the truck was moderately damaged, the patrol reported.
