A Pevely man is in serious condition after crashing into a utility pole while riding a motorcycle near Hematite on Thursday, Sept. 28, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:30 p.m., Chad M. Stricklin, 31, was riding a 1996 Harley-Davidson Road King south on Mapaville-Hematite Road north of Hwy. P when the motorcycle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a pole, the report said.
Stricklin was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in serious condition as of Friday, Sept. 29, a hospital spokesman said.
According to the report, Stricklin was not wearing a state-approved safety helmet, and the motorcycle was extensively damaged.
